WGRZ NBC 2 News first started its work on 14th August 1954. It started its work as WGR-TV. First, it owned by WGR corporation alongside WGR radio. From start, it affiliated to NBC television station. WBUF-TV bought by NBC in 1955 because the channel was not going well at that time. When NBC moved its scheme to the new channel, then in January 1956, WGR-TV started its affiliation with ABC.

Later in September 1958, this WGRZ again affiliated to NBC. But this terminus resumed its second affiliation with ABC for two months. This depot started its FM radio in 1959. Within a year, this terminus bought many other television channels and radio stations beyond the country. In Jamestown, New York, this depot regulated a repeater station on VHF channel 6 in the 1960s. The channel migrated to its current location, at 259 Delaware Avenue, in 1972. This depot added “Z” to its call letters becoming “WGRZ-TV” on 1st May 1983. Now, this WGRZ is doing well and broadcast 30 ½ hours of local news on its terminus.
